3 Reasons Why a Holiday Wedding is Better Than You Think

Scheduling a wedding during the holidays is often more seen as more trouble than it’s worth. You’re asking all of your guests to work around their holiday scheduling and the increased traffic of the season can make logistics a real pain.

But then again, there are some often unlooked perks, and hey, it’s not like everyone has completely open schedules during the Spring Summer, anyways.

  1. Avoiding Wedding Season

This point can’t be emphasized enough. When you avoid the long wedding season (typically the beginning of Spring to the end of Summer), scheduling becomes easier. This isn’t just for booking wedding venues in NYC and NJ, either. Florists, bridal boutiques, caterers, wedding planners –scores of people will not only have extra time for you, they’ll be eager to please to keep business’s running during the off-season.

  1. The Colors You Can Get Away With

A holiday wedding means getting away with color (and combinations) that you’d be hard-pressed to justify in the warmer months. Black and gold-trimmed bridesmaids dresses? How about a deep scarlet? Deep silver? Ever wanted to add a deep emerald trim or holiday red to a wedding dress? Usually these color combos are too loud for the Spring and Summer. But in the northeast, where in the Winter we see a landscape palate of white or dull brown and grey, these colors create a vibrant contrast that’s difficult to get away with otherwise.

  1. Festive Lighting

To be fair, this is more of a godsend to anyone doing photography for your wedding, but you’ll still be able to reap the benefits of ornate string lights or backdrops that seem ensconced by an evanescence of white, silver and gold. This can make your wedding pictures look clear a sunning because of all bright lighting available, or it can give it a dream-like, look when taking pictures outside at night (briefly, it’s bloody cold out there). The bright holiday colors gives a backdrop akin to brilliant and distant stars against the dark north eastern winter nights.
