How to Accommodate Kids During your Nuptials

It may seem like a simple decision to make in the time before your special day, but determining whether or not children will be allowed to your wedding will be a major obstacle for your wedding preparations. Kids can be a wonderful addition to any ceremony, but you may have to go the extra mile to ensure that they are entertained and cared for so their parents can enjoy the festivities. Here are a few ways to enjoy a worry-free wedding day with the kids in tow.

1.Hire a chaperone

To ensure that the parents can cut loose and enjoy your special day, The Knot suggests hiring a chaperone to watch over the little ones during your reception. This is someone who can keep a close eye on things, go on bathroom trips and handle anything that comes up in a pinch. Searching for a traditional babysitter is the ideal route, and he or she will put the parents’ minds at ease during your reception.

2.Provide entertainment

While some kids will jump right into the festivities and hit the dance floor, others may need some form of entertainment to prevent them from becoming restless. Stick to the basics like board games, crayons and coloring books or set up a TV and a DVD player in a separate room. These small touches will make a huge impact and are ideal for little ones with short attention spans!

3.Get the kids involved

After making the decision to invite kids to your nuptials, why not get them involved in some of the small jobs that need to be taken care of? According to Martha Stewart Weddings, kids are great for handing out programs, distributing flower petals and birdseed to throw as you exit your venue and even passing out wedding favors. This will make for some wonderful photo opportunities and will help the kids feel like they are taking part in something special.
