The Best Ways to Keep Wedding Planning Organized

Let’s face it, planning for a wedding is fun but also extremely stressful. There are so many tasks that need to be taken care of and a pretty strict timeline to follow to ensure that you don’t miss out on vendors or deadlines. Even the most organized couples often struggle with keeping everything organized when it comes to wedding planning. Thankfully, we’ve been there before and came up with five tips to help you keep your wedding planning organized.

Start Planning Early

Your wedding might be more than a year away, but that doesn’t mean you should put off planning for a while. In fact, most venues and even vendors can book up a full year in advance! Don’t risk losing out on the venue of your dreams or finding out that your favorite bakery is booked for your date by starting planning too late. Starting early gives you plenty of time to get everything done and reduces the risk of becoming unorganized when you try to cram a year and a half worth of planning into eight months.

Write Everything Down

You might think you’ll remember everything from your conversation with the photographer, but that’s not always the case. In fact, when the florist calls you an hour later, chances are you’ll already start forgetting what you covered with the photographer. That’s why it’s important to write everything down in order to keep your planning organized.

Consider Using a Color-Coded System

Color coding might seem a bit extra, but it really is a great way to keep your wedding planning organized. By using a colorcoding system in your wedding planner with one color for each vendor, you can easily see what the week ahead, who you’re meeting with, what deposits are due, and what follow-up emails need to be sent.

Delegate Tasks

It’s easy to get overwhelmed and disorganized when you’re the one doing all the work. However, by relinquishing some power and actually delegating you can stay more organized. It’s easier for four people to keep track of one vendor each than it is for you to keep track of all four of them yourself.

Utilize Wedding Planning Templates & Checklists

Another way to keep your wedding planning organized is to use premade checklists and timelines. Websites like Zola and The Knot have checklists that cover every wedding task imaginable. This is a great way to stay organized and be reminded of when certain tasks should be completed.
