Three beautiful recycled mementos from your wedding celebration

When you take a step back and look at everything that goes into your wedding ceremony and reception, your big day could result in boxes of used decorations, apparel and favors you may not know what to do with. Luckily, there are a variety of small craft projects you can experiment with in the months after your wedding, and they can be fabulous gift ideas or home décor options for your new abode.

Here are a few intriguing projects you should consider during your newlywed phase!

1.Save those wedding bouquets

When your ceremony is over, Brides Magazine suggests putting both the bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets off to the side so they can be preserved. Drying these flowers out will ensure that they last for years to come as a fabulous adornment in your home or as a fitting addition to your wedding scrapbook.

2.Repurpose reception items

If you had custom cocktail napkins, save some for future celebrations such as anniversaries.  A wine bottle from the reception can also be used for “messages in a bottle” to read at 10th or 25th anniversaries as memory of the first day of marriage!

3.Recycle your flowers

All of those flowers that adorned tables and other places throughout your reception can serve as wonderful gifts for your family and friends as they leave your reception. Additionally, if you have a few plants left over, consider sharing the joy of your special day with those in need. Hospice centers, nursing homes, hospitals and other outreach organizations would be happy to receive flowers. Nothing will go to waste and you can brighten someone’s day in the process!
