Three Great Interactive Wedding Reception Table Activities

After you’ve tied the knot and you’re off taking pictures with your bridesmaids and groomsmen, your friends and family will eagerly await your arrival at your reception hall. Even if you put plenty of thought into your seating chart, it can be a little awkward to be gathered with a few strangers and past acquaintances. Thankfully, you can get their conversations moving quickly with a few of these ice-breaking, interactive activities.

  1. Mad Lib Drink Coasters

This is a quick and easy addition to your wedding reception tables that will spark conversations and can showcase your loved ones’ creativity. Mad Libs take a sentence like, “I wish the bride and groom nothing but ____” and your guests will be prompted to put down a noun, verb or other word of your choice. It’s safe to say that you’ll get more than your share of laughs from this wonderful activity.

  1. Scavenger Hunt

This is a great way for your guests to meet and greet and work toward a collective goal. A great way to pull it off is to create a grid and instead of numbers, put facts about the people at the party. The idea is, the more people you talk to, the better your chances are of filling up all the squares. Award a prize to the person who completes the board first for a fabulous way to kick off your evening.

  1. Trivia Cards

Much like the scavenger hunt, this is an activity that will pool the collective knowledge and energy of the people at your table. Create a contest for your guests by awarding them first dubs to your dinner buffet or a complementary gift for the table. Trivia that is specific to you and your significant other is a great way to see who knows the most about the couple and get everyone at the table conversing and working together.
