Wedding Insurance: What is It, and Is it Worth It?

Let’s face it. No one likes thinking about how a special day can go wrong. Often, focusing on what can go wrong is seen as a way to make those bad things happen (self-fulfilling prophesies and such). But there’s a big difference between focusing on the negative and having a backup plan. At least, that’s the ideal behind any kind of insurance plan.

So wait, wedding insurance is a thing?

Yes. Yes it is

Depending on the policy, wedding insurance covers just about any happenstance that could force you to reschedule your wedding. For example, let’s say someone vital to the wedding gets sick or hurt right before the ceremony, core coverage will reimburse the costs to reschedule the ceremony Similarly, a vender might do a no-show. Like the limo service not arriving and needing to schedule a last second replacement –which is usually much more expensive.

Sometimes dresses or presents get damaged during long distance travel and you’ll need to get a quick replacement without paying out of the pocket again. Further care like liability coverage handles injuries or property damage that may occur over the wedding (basically, a contingency plan if you plan on serving tequila during the reception). Pretty much, if it’s beyond your control, it will be covered. Just make sure to go over your coverage contract like you would a wedding dress contract.
