How to Share Special Moments with Your Parents on Your Wedding Day

How to Share Special Moments with Your Parents on Your Wedding Day

While a wedding is a big day for you and your fiancé, it’s also an amazing day for both of your parents as well. This is the day that they see the person they raised marry the love of their life. If you want to make your parents feel special—and not just like any other wedding guest—here are a few ways to do so on your wedding day:

Father Daughter and Mother Son Dance

A father daughter and mother son dance are common at most weddings. However, if you want to put a special touch on it, let your father or mother pick the song. They might have a special song that they sang to you as a child while trying to get you to sleep or a song that reminds them of a certain happy memory. You get to choose most things on your wedding day, so let your parents have just this one.

A “First Look” With Your Parents

You might not want to see your fiancé until you’re walking down the aisle, but there’s nothing stopping you from doing a first look with your parents. This is a great opportunity to capture some truly amazing photos that you can all cherish for a lifetime. Plus, it only takes a few minutes so you can easily fit into your busy wedding day schedule.

A Special Gift for Mom and Dad

If you want to have a special moment at your wedding with your parents, you can also give them a nice gift. Something as small as purchasing your father’s tie or a special necklace or bracelet for your mother is a great way to show them you care. Plus, it’s something that they can cherish forever.

Wedding Memorials

Another great way to share a special moment with your parents on your wedding day is through a wedding memorial. Chances are that their parents—your grandparents—might not be around anymore to celebrate the momentous occasion and that might make your parents slightly emotional. Including a small wedding memorial paying tribute to the lost loved ones you wish could be there, is a great way to share a special moment with your parents.

Invite Them Out for Wedding Prep

Honestly, one of the best ways to have a special moment with your parents is to include them in the wedding day prep. If you are going out with your bridesmaids to get your nails done, invite your mom along. If you are getting ready with the guys in the groom suite, give your dad a special invite. A brunch with your mom or dad is another way to celebrate your bond on the big day before the chaos sets in.

Involve Them in Parts of the Planning Process

Another way to share a special moment with your parents on your wedding day, is to have them feel like they were a part of the planning process. While the day should be planned by you and your fiancé, keeping your parents in the loop from the early planning stages is a great way to make them feel appreciated and special. Keep them involved in a way that makes you feel like it’s still your day and use them to your advantage, but don’t let them take over your day.
